I’m sure Musk is going to say this is about free speech in an attempt to gin up his supporters. It isn’t. It’s about generating and distributing non consensual sexual imagery, including of minors. And, when notified, doing nothing about it.

If anything it should be an embarrassment that France are the only ones doing this.

Way ahead of you, they already said that when the same French authority launched an investigation due to "[...] offences related to the platform, including the spreading of child abuse images and sexually explicit deepfakes, the denial of crimes against humanity and manipulation of an automated data processing system as part of an organised group.". This is just more fuel to the fire.

As for your last statement, Brazil also did something, two weeks ago: https://archive.is/jF2ZW [Brazil gives Musk's xAI 30 days to tackle fake sexualized content from Grok, Reuters]

Musk is working hard to be the type of Bond villain that has to hide on his own private island as every government of the world wants him in jail. Just needs to add lasers to his satellites then hold the world hostage!

I am french, and I don't understand what is doing our government regarding their 'digital policy'.

They look like completely hypocrit or completely incompetent, what's this?

If they don't agree with X, don't use it/ban it and/or create a simple local alternative (it won't be financed by the US thousands of billions of $ from their investement funds... keep that in mind): the whole governement is using X all the time.

Basically, it looks like they want the US to finance and technically deal with everything, for free, and to have control over it Oo.

Not to mention, they went full throttle on breaking web sites (noscript/basic (x)html, aka only a simple web engines would be required) for web apps completely dependent on whatng cartel gigantic-enormously-huge web engines (that must be fixed to support the classic web).

To tell you the truth: I don't understand anything on what's going on. But on the ground, people _inside_ the french gov/administrations are pushing really hard to increase the dependency on non-EU/non-french "tech" (it has been several years). Those guys are probably brain-washed super clean, or seriously malicious, in the end I don't know (they are very discret/well hidden).

I suspect it is mostly a question of money though.

We have freedom of expression here in France, ofc this freedom is not to be used to call for violence and murder, basic insults, harrassement, and _DIRECT_ and _EXPLICIT_ call for hate targetting some people groups (race/religion/sexual orientation/etc the usual). But I know even this freedom of expression is losing grounds... and not for the reasons we have here. Constructed, analytical critics can be targetted at anyone any groups (but the bartolini theorem makes the constructive disagreement with some very malicious people quite exhausting though).

In the end, from a citizen point of view, it is very important to vote for representatives who can be bashed, be laught at, be receiving border line critics in the medias. The other ones, which can become a near direct lethal threat because of what I just said, we all know the danger they are for any democratic country.
